This YT video explains Apple's new Apple Music brand identity and animated effects which they created using a physical water tank with sound waves to create a very unique effect for animated effect for both the Apple Music logo as well as the word mark. They describe how they're creating the visual effect with sound waves.
What I would like you to do is to recreate this effect as closely as possible in a browser using modern browser GPU capabilities and libraries that most make sense here, whether it's WebGL, WebGPU, vgpu, or three.js. Feel free to bring in any third party sound processing or water liquid simulation processing libraries if they make sense to use. And the goal here is to be able to have a virtual simulated effect which matches as closely as possible the official physically based effect that Apple has created for their new Apple Music branding. So the first step here is definitely going to be to thoroughly understand the source video and effects, make sure that you have a solid transcript with word level timings and that you can identify the specific effects for Apple Music. Both of them, I think there's two effects; one for the YT music note icon enclosed in sort of like an iOS App Store app border. And then also the Apple Music wordmark / logo itself. You'll also want to download official SVGs for these base assets where possible to work from. I want you to create whatever local rendering framework you need in order for you to create a faithful live simulation that you'll be able to iterate on and aim for this level of fidelity. Don't feel constrained to use any particular existing solution for this; I want you to have full flexibility to choose the absolute best solution here which will allow you to iteratively simulate and match the target effect(s) as closely as possible. We want a one-to-one match as closely as possible of our simulated fluid effect's animations on these same sort of SVG brand assets as the examples shown in the official Apple marketing materials. And our goal here will be to, one, just create a nice interactive web player that allows people to Use their own brand assets with this. And then two, to output nice high quality videos using both the Apple assets as well as our own custom assets. And then, three, to create sort of an explainer around how people can create their own version of this type of really premium Apple level animation assets without having an Apple level budget and using the type of physical water and sophisticated sound setup that their team purportedly used to make the original version of this effect.
download the video first with yt-dlp. I think the parts that have the clean without just a black background effects for both the icon as well as the word mark start around 1:09 into the video and then 1:10 into the video until 1:13 or so respectively, so 2 related but separate clips, 1 for the icon, and 1 for the wordmark. i think they both are likely using a very similar effect under the hood, but i can't be sure, and I think the audio waveforms driving these 2 effects are slightly different.
you are a world-class motion graphic designer at apple, and I have full faith in your ability to to work ultrahard to match the fidelity and quality of this world class Apple level effect and doing it in a way that works with any underlying brand assets. But for now, we'll focus on the underlying Apple music icons and logos in order to have as close of a one to one mapping. Of the effect over its animation over time. I think you'll also need to find the, as closely as possible, the source music or audio that was used to control like the waveforms for this effect. That might not be possible, but we can try.
I think the, at least the music note version of this effect appears to also use liquid glass, or maybe that's just the, yeah, I'm not sure how the liquid glass effect applies here, or if it's all just sort of a liquid simulation, but it might be more sophisticated having multiple effects stacked on top of each other.
